"All for one; me!"
- The Medieval Spy
I really felt like I was pushing the boundaries when designing this one. It deviates a lot from the original Spy (granted, the Soldier deviated quite a bit as well), and may be a bit "busy" compared to the original designs. They're supposed to be clear, clean an easily recognizable, and while this one would be easily recognizable and still retains the Spy's lanky appearance, it might have a bit too many doodads hanging around.
His overall theme wound up dragging a lot from the popularized Three Musketeers look: he's a dapper French scoundrel, and so were they. I think. The Spy mask, a central feature in the Spy's original design, originally wound up getting pulled from this redesign, though I eventually changed it to a team-coloured carnival mask. A spy without his mask just isn't the same.
The hat is a classic musketeer hat, with a team-coloured plume and a curly hairdo underneath. It comes with (i.e. separately, like with the camera beard) a flamboyant Van Dyke beard, for that extra bit of dapperness.
The melee weapon is a dagger which, by the totally not inconspicuous green coating, is poisoned. Easy solution that brings back the good old tranquilizer from TFC, for those who remember that.
The cloak is the... cloak on his left shoulder, which I totally did not shamelessly swipe from the Assassin's Creed series. Okay, I did. I like the design of them, and while actually hiding behind one would probably never work in the real world, bringing up a shoulder cloak in front of your face as a way of sneaking about seems to me like something that could fit very nicely in a medieval TF2.EDIT:
Edited in a carnival mask. Guess there was a solution for the mask after all.
